A Carbondale man faces charges after police said he choked a woman during a domestic dispute Wednesday night.
Officers responded to Spencer Street around 9:38 p.m. for the report of a physical domestic and found Patrick Connolly sitting on the front porch of his residence, according to a criminal complaint. Officers observed Connolly to be visibly intoxicated and noted he smelled of alcohol, police said.
Connolly told police he was arguing with several people and a male punched him, officers said.
A female victim told officers Connolly came home drunk and started yelling at her, police said. She told police Connolly later grabbed her by the neck and started choking her, cutting off her breathing for four or five seconds, officers said.
Police charged Connolly with strangulation, simple assault and harassment. A preliminary hearing is set for July 2 at 10:45 a.m.
