Bus trip: AARP NEPA/Scranton Chapter 3731 will host a bus trip Oct. 14 to “Germanfest” at Silver Birches, Hawley. Sing along with the George Statler German Band and have fun competing, if you wish, in the Germanfest Olympics. A German-style buffet is included. Trip is open to the public. Cost is $99. Participants wanted: Johnson College is inviting local individuals, businesses, emergency services and organizations to participate in its Truck & Cruiser Palooza, a family-friendly, hands-on vehicle experience and fundraiser, Sept. 14 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., rain or shine, at the Johnson College Scranton campus, 3427 N. Main Ave. The college is seeking a wide variety of vehicles to display and engage with children and families. Interested participants are encouraged to bring vehicles in the following categories: construction vehicles (dump trucks, excavators, backhoes, cranes, cement mixers and other heavy machinery); emergency services vehicles (firetrucks, including pump and ladder trucks, ambulances, police cruisers); utility and service vehicles (garbage trucks, recycling trucks, snowplows, road-paving equipment, bucket trucks, oil tankers, tow trucks); transportation vehicles (semitrucks, big rigs, moving vans, charter buses, school buses); military vehicles (Army transport trucks, armored vehicles); and specialty vehicles (monster trucks, tractors, and other unique or custom rides). Mayfield

Corn & Clam Slam: William Walker Hose Company annual Corn & Clam Slam fireman’s festival/picnic, Friday-Saturday, 4 p.m., on the company grounds, 803 Penn Ave., featuring ethnic foods, fried dough, potato pancakes, fresh steamed clams, basket raffle, party tent (must be 21+ with valid ID to enter). Friday will feature music by Bon Poison and Saturday will feature music by 3 Brix Shy. Fireman’s parade through Mayfield is Saturday at 7 p.m.
