Clarks Summit

Flea market: Clarks Summit United Methodist Church annual flea market, Aug. 2, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; spaces are available inside for $35 and outside for $30. Parking for vehicles is $2 per car load as a suggested donation. Food will be available for purchase. All proceeds go directly to the church. Bus trip:  AARP NEPA will host a bus trip to Sight and Sound Theatre, Lancaster County, to see the biblical musical “Noah” on Friday, Sept.12. Front row center seats allow patrons to experience the story as it comes to life as animals fill the stage and aisles. After seeing “Noah,” enjoy dinner at the Grand Smorgasboard of Hershey Farms, which is included in the trip price of $189/adult and $135/child under 12. Trip is open to the public. Backpack giveaway: Verizon authorized retailer Round Room will host its 13th annual “School Rocks Backpack Giveaway” event, where hundreds of families are expected to line up to receive a free backpack. Occurring at more than 1,200 stores, Round Room will be giving over $3 million worth of backpacks to students across the country. Participating local stores are: 95 Brooklyn St., Unit 3, Carbondale; 1141 Northern Blvd., Clarks Summit; 228 S. Blakely St., Dunmore; 569 Hamlin Highway Unit 9, Hamlin; 650 Old Willow Ave., Honesdale; 512 Towne Plaza, Suite 102, Tunkhannock (location will have clear backpacks available); 1782 N. Keyser Ave., Suite 1, Scranton; 3184 Route 940, Suite 101, Mount Pocono; and 320 Route 315 Highway, Suite 200, Pittston Twp.

Ukrainian folk festival: Ukrainian Folk Festival 2025, Aug. 24, noon-8 p.m., Ukrainian American Sport Center — Tryzub, County Line and Lower State roads, Horsham; Ukrainian folk art, music and dance celebrating the 34th anniversary of independence. Outdoor stage concert and show, 1:30-4:30 p.m., live orchestra music, 5-8 p.m., traditional Ukrainian foods and baked goods, BBQ pit, standard picnic fare, vendors’ grove, Ukrainian arts and crafts displays and bazaar, cool refreshments, live reenactments from living Ukrainian history exhibitors and Ukrainian hospitality.
