The death of a person whose body was found near the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport does not appear suspicious and did not involve foul play, the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.
The body was found by a federal aviation official off Navy Way Road in Dupont on Tuesday afternoon, prompting an investigation by the DA’s office as well as borough and state police.
In a statement issued Wednesday, prosecutors said the case began with a report of a missing 23-year-old man in Moosic. Prosecutors did not name the man, but Moosic police previously issued an appeal for information on the whereabouts of resident Nicholas Terrery, who was last seen on Saturday.
District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce said in a statement that the case concluded with the discovery of the body in a wooded area on Tuesday.
Investigators confirmed Terrery’s identity and determined there were no signs of foul play, nor did the death appear suspicious, according to the statement.
Further details on the case were not being released “due to the nature of the incident,” prosecutors said.
