Forest City police charged a borough resident after they said he threatened his neighbor with a gun.

Patrolman Glenn Mattos responded to a call Friday morning about a neighbor dispute involving Mark A. Novak, 62, 510 Hudson St. He allegedly threatened to shoot Christina Barron while pointing a firearm at her, the officer wrote in a criminal complaint.

She told police that while she was taking out the garbage, Novak pointed a black long gun at her and threatened to shoot her, her dog and her family. Barron fled the scene with her daughter, Mattos said in the complaint.

She said Novak has threatened her numerous times in the past, and an investigation revealed he was upset with her due to issues with her miniature goats, dogs and parking.

Novak was arraigned Friday before Magisterial District Judge Suzanne Brainard on two counts each of terroristic threats and simple assault. He was taken to the Susquehanna County Prison, unable to post $2,500 bail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
