Samantha Berger has been appointed executive director of the nonprofit Fork Over Love.
Berger joined the organization as a contract employee in August 2024 to drive fundraising efforts. By November 2024, she confidently stepped into a full-time role. Her impressive skills and dedication led to her rapid promotion to Events and Operations Manager, where she took charge of all aspects of food distribution, effectively coordinating locations, restaurants, and volunteers. Over the past several months, she helped evolve programming into four distinct target areas to expand and diversify food delivery throughout Luzerne and Lackawanna County in collaboration with twenty nonprofit organizations.
“Samantha’s leadership, passion, and deep commitment to our mission have made a lasting impact in a short time. We’re confident that with Samantha as Executive Director, Fork Over Love will continue to grow and nourish our community in meaningful and transformative ways,” said Timothy Lambert, Chair of Fork Over Love.
Berger has devoted her career to the retail industry. Before her position at Fork Over Love, she co-owned and managed Three Dog Bakery in Kingston. She graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
“I’m thrilled to step into the role of Executive Director. I’m incredibly grateful to the board for their continued support as I’ve grown within the organization, and especially to (Fork Over Love founder) Tracey Selingo for her unwavering belief in me and for entrusting me with the opportunity to carry forward the mission and momentum of Fork Over Love. I’m honored to lead and excited for what’s ahead,” Berger said.
Fork Over Love purchases hot, chef-made meals from independent restaurants and distributes those dinners throughout the community to feed neighbors in need. Since 2021, Fork Over Love has engaged 95 restaurants, collaborated with 57 nonprofit and faith-based partners, recruited more than 325 volunteers to deliver more than 89,000 dinners, and reinvested over $870,000 in the local community.
