Lackawanna County attorney disbarred

The state Supreme Court has disbarred a Lackawanna County attorney.

John T. O’Malley was disbarred on consent from the state bar, effective July 2, according to the court order issued Monday. The decision was made upon consideration of a verified statement of resignation.

No reason was given why O’Malley was disbarred. Efforts to reach him and his attorney, Jennifer McCambridge, were unsuccessful.

The petition for discipline was opened March 28.

O’Malley was admitted to the bar in December 1996 and practices in Clarks Summit, according to the state Supreme Court Disciplinary Board.

His practices include family law, elder law, estate planning, DUI litigation and divorce.

The one-page order concludes that O’Malley has to notify existing clients he represents of his disbarment and pay costs to the disciplinary board.
