Over the next few weeks, The Times-Tribune is honored to present the profiles of each member of the Scholastic Superstars Class of 2025. These outstanding students were nominated by their schools and chosen by a panel of local officials.

Matthew Hill, Scranton High School

Q: What accomplishments are you most proud of and why?

A: The accomplishment I am most proud of is earning a NVIDIA DLI Certificate for completion of Jetson AI Fundamentals, because of the experiences and amount of time and effort the course took.

Q: What were your most rewarding school or community activities?

A: After School Peer Tutoring (as a peer tutor) has been the most rewarding activity, although Tomorrow’s Leaders Today and Pennserve Club have also been very fulfilling.

Q: What is something you do to relax?

A: I like to write stories and draw.

Q: Plans after high school graduation?

A: College/university for computer science.

Q: Who do you most admire and why?

A: I admire my parents the most because they have supported me throughout my entire life and have always been there when I’ve needed them. I love my parents, and I know they love me, and they have helped me grow and mature as a person.

Q: What advice do you have for younger students?

A: My advice to younger students is to not be afraid to try new hobbies and clubs and to not be afraid to ask for help when you need it.

Parents: Dorothy and Michael Hill

Some of his honors: National Honor Society, AP Scholar Award, National Merit Scholarship Program, NVIDIA DLI Certificate for completion of Jetson AI Fundamentals, the Scholastic Art and Writing Gold Key Award for poetry.

Some of his activities: Scholastic Scrimmage, French club, drama club, SADD club, student council.

Some of his community involvement: Tutoring, Tomorrow’s Leaders Today Program of Leadership Lackawanna, St. Joseph’s Center volunteer, University of Scranton’s Meg Cullen Brown SMART mentoring program, University of Scranton’s Royal Cyber Investigation Summer Camp.
