Over the next few weeks, The Times-Tribune is honored to present the profiles of each member of the Scholastic Superstars Class of 2025. These outstanding students were nominated by their schools and chosen by a panel of local officials.
Lia Hartman, Western Wayne High School
Q: What accomplishments are you most proud of and why?
A: I am most proud of being the drum major to my high school marching band. I was able to lead the band to two years of successful field shows and give performances that put a smile on many faces.

Q: What were your most rewarding school or community activities?
A: My most rewarding community activity is being a part of the Northeastern Youth Wind Ensemble. Being in such an amazing ensemble felt so special to me. I will never forget the experience.
Q: What is something you do to relax?
A: I often read or play games to relax. I love fantasy and romance novels. I also love to play music I personally enjoy on the flute or piccolo.
Q: Plans after high school graduation?
A: University of Scranton, biochemistry, to pursue my dream of becoming a pathologist.
Q: Who do you most admire and why?
A: I admire my mother the most. Even through the most difficult times in her life, she manages to keep a smile on her face and laugh. She has helped me see the brighter side of life and I am forever grateful. I have a difficult time staying optimistic, so I strive to be the positive and outgoing person that she is.
Q: What advice do you have for younger students?
A: My advice for younger students is to make sure you work hard and do your best, but also prioritize your well-being. As long as you do your best, success will find its way into your life.
