OLD FORGE — Firefighters quickly put out a fire Friday afternoon in the borough.

Crews from the Downvalley and Luzerne County responded to the fire at 227 Oak St. just before 1 p.m. They arrived to find the fire limited to a first floor bedroom, Assistant Chief Bill Stull said.

Firefighters put it out within 30 minutes of arriving, he said. No one was home at the time and there were no injuries. The call was upgraded to a second alarm because of the limited manpower in the afternoon and because of the building’s close proximity to its neighboring buildings, none of which sustained damage, Stull said.

He said the fire was deemed to be electrical in nature.

Borough police closed the 200 block of Oak Street for an hour while firefighters put out the blaze.
