A Carbondale man who appeared intoxicated exposed himself Saturday near a busy doughnut shop, police charge.

Michael Fay, 53, of 126 Belmont St., is charged with indecent exposure, open lewdness and public drunkenness, according to a criminal complaint.

Carbondale police found Fay unsteady on his feet and smelling of alcohol when they responded at 6:15 p.m. to 43 S. Main St., Carbondale. They arrested him.

A woman told police Fay had been outside urinating. She said Fay was facing the Dunkin’ drive-thru and turned around to expose himself to her.

Another woman, who called 911, said Fay had passed out in the middle of South Main Street. She and a man helped Fay up and walked him to a bench.

Fay then began fighting with the man. Once Fay got physical, the woman walked back to her vehicle.

She said she saw Fay walk over to a parking meter and urinate, exposing himself to people driving on South Main Street, as well as those leaving the Dunkin’ drive-thru.

Fay is also charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing a public road.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on July 9 before District Judge Kipp Adcock.
