A Scranton woman, annoyed with her neighbor for repeatedly knocking on her apartment door, hit him with a baseball bat, according to a criminal complaint.

At about 1:30 a.m. on Monday, Sharice Farmer, 41, of 328 Taylor Ave., called 911 and told dispatchers she had struck her neighbor with a bat, police said.

According to the police affidavit:

Farmer told responding officers that Wilfredo Ortiz had been banging on her door for over an hour and a half.

When she answered it, Ortiz attempted to push his way into the apartment and she hit him with a metal bat, she said.

Police spotted blood droplets leading from Farmer’s apartment to Ortiz’s apartment on the second floor.

Officers spoke to Ortiz, noting he had significant swelling and lacerations on his forehead where he was hit by the bat.

Ortiz provided CCTV footage that had some visual and full audio recordings of the incident.

The footage showed Ortiz walking downstairs and knocking once on Farmer’s door. Immediately after the knock, officers could hear the bat hitting Ortiz on the audio recording.

Farmer faces charges of simple assault and harassment.

She remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. on July 23 before District Judge Paul Keeler.
