City police arrested a Scranton man after shots were fired in early April in South Scranton.

Ralph Frederick Jr., 20, was taken into custody Thursday and charged with aggravated assault, endangerment of others, shooting into an occupied structure and making terroristic threats, according to a Scranton Police Department news release.

Just after 2 a.m. on April 7,  police responded to the 600 block of Brook Street for the report of shots fired. Officers found multiple shell casings on the ground, as well as a house and vehicle damaged by gunfire, police said.

Scranton police Major Crimes Unit and Pennsylvania State Police Troop R began an investigation and identified Frederick as a suspect, according to the release. Officers noted Frederick had also been involved in several vehicle thefts in Lackawanna County.

A search of his home following his arrest yielded a handgun with an obliterated serial number, ammunition and other evidence, police said.

State police said they also intend to charge Frederick with thefts from motor vehicles.
