A Scranton man possessed a large amount of crystal methamphetamine and other narcotics, authorities charge.

Lackawanna County detectives charged Robert M. Milazzo, 51, with two counts of felony possession with intent to deliver and multiple related narcotics offenses.

Detectives arrested him Monday following an investigation and a search of his residence in the basement of a building advertised as student housing in the 300 block of Taylor Avenue in the Hill Section, Lackawanna County District Attorney Brian Gallagher said.

Law enforcement found more than 175 grams of crystal methamphetamine, seven grams of cocaine, 15 Diazepam pills, money and paraphernalia used to cut, weigh and package narcotics for sale, Gallagher said in a release. The narcotics have a street value of more than $10,000.

“The presence of this quantity of narcotics in proximity to a college campus and students is a significant concern, and we will continue to work with our law enforcement partners prioritizing the prevention of illicit narcotics from entering the city,” Gallagher said in a statement.

Magisterial District Judge Christopher Szewczyk arraigned Milazzo on the charges Tuesday. Milazzo was taken to Lackawanna County Prison, unable to post $50,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is July 3.

If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison, a $227,500 fine and a term of supervised release following imprisonment, according to Gallagher.

The case was investigated by the district attorney’s office, Pennsylvania State Police Troop R Vice Unit and the Scranton Police Department.
