A Scranton man who told investigators he supplies most of the city with crack cocaine sold the drug to a confidential informant, state police charge.

Burt L. Wright, 55, of 1010 Summit Pointe, faces two felony counts of delivery of crack cocaine.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Thursday, Pennsylvania State Police Troop R Vice Unit, in collaboration with the Lackawanna County district attorney’s office drug unit, met with an informant who provided information about activities involving Wright, who has been involved in the distribution of controlled substances.

After the informant arranged to pick up Wright on Moosic Street for a transaction, the informant was given marked confidential funds.

Investigators observed Wright getting into the informant’s vehicle and followed the vehicle to Birch Street and Hertz Court, where Wright walked toward a Beech Street residence where he was staying.

Police then watched as Wright returned and got into the informant’s vehicle.

Investigators stopped the vehicle and recovered drugs from the informant.

Troopers searched Wright and found crack cocaine.

The informant told investigators he provided Wright with the marked bills and received crack cocaine from Wright.

Later that day, investigators searched the Beech Street residence after obtaining a search warrant. They found $756 in cash, including $100 in marked bills used for the drug buy, as well as a digital scale and 5 grams of processed marijuana.

Wright told investigators he supplies most of the crack and powder cocaine in the city of Scranton.

He also faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on June 5 before District Judge Alyce Farrell.
