A Scranton man who sold cocaine to a confidential informant faces felony charges, investigators said.
Earlier this month, Lackawanna County detectives and the Pennsylvania State Police Troop R Vice Unit conducted a controlled purchase of crack cocaine from Darrell Keith Keller, 38, at 221 Ferdinand St., according to a criminal complaint.
Keller is currently under Lackawanna County probation and lists the Ferdinand Street residence as his official address.
Following the controlled purchase, investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence.
According to the complaint:
At about 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, members of the county detective unit, state police vice unit and Scranton police Street Crimes Unit entered the residence and found Keller’s wife and children in the living room.
Keller’s wife told them there was cash in the basement.
Keller left through the back door and was met by detectives, who arrested him.
Lackawanna County Detective Vince Butkiewicz and his K9 partner, Kalo, searched the basement.
Kalo located a clear bag containing 28.3 grams of crack cocaine, two plastic bags containing individual baggies of cocaine and packaging material.
One of the plastic bags contained 30 individual bags of crack cocaine. The other contained 25 individual bags of crack cocaine.
Investigators also recovered $2,031 in cash from a nightstand in the basement.
Investigators confirmed a portion of the cash had been used during the controlled purchase.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on June 26 before District Judge Joanne Corbett.
Keller remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $125,000 bail.
