Teenager arrested after stabbing earlier this month in Scranton

A Scranton teenager was arrested Monday for stabbing another man in the face July 12.

Scranton police detectives, Lackawanna County detectives and the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force arrested a 17-year-old male on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, simple assault, reckless endangerment of another person and harassment.

Officers were in the area of Mulberry Street and Kellum Court at about 3 a.m. when a they were approached by a 23-year-old man who had been stabbed in the lower jaw and mouth.

He told officers he had been injured near Mulberry Street and Taylor Avenue, according to the release.

Law enforcement officers identified the suspect and made the arrest, “following an intensive investigation.”

Scranton police will pursue charges against the 17-year-old in adult court, according to the release.
