UGI Utilities Inc. will not increase the cost of gas next month but is seeking a roughly 1% price hike that would take effect in December, according to an advertisement the company is running this week.
The company announced that it has filed a request with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to increase gas rates for customers who buy their gas from the company starting Dec. 1.
According to the company, the total bill for a residential customer using 73.7 hundred cubic feet of gas purchased from UGI would increase by 1.1%, from $112.23 to $113.45 per month.
Commercial customers using 28.3 thousand cubic feet would see a 1.4% increase, from $333.24 to $337.83 per month, while industrial customers using 75.4 thousand cubic feet would increase by 1.5%, from $840.06 to $852.29 per month, according to the utility.
The purchased gas cost rate is intended to cover the costs of wholesale gas supplies the utility supplies to customers.
The utility noted that customers who buy their gas from a PUC-licensed supplier may also be affected by the proposed increase.
For more information on how the requested changes might affect your bill, call UGI at 1-800-276-2722.
