Dickson City American Legion Post 665 will offer scholarships to high school seniors in the Midvalley. Children and grandchildren of regular members of Post 665 are also eligible. Grave markers and flag replacement
Sons of the American Legion Ambrose Revels Post 328, in preparation for Memorial Day, will be replacing grave markers and flags on veterans’ graves Sunday, rain or shine. Volunteers will meet at 1 p.m. at the post, 426 Main St., Archbald. There will be food and refreshments served at the post afterward. Volunteers of all ages are welcome.

Post 7069 Memorial Day parade
VFW Abington Memorial Post 7069, in conjunction with Clarks Summit, Memorial Day parade, May 26, 11 a.m. Individuals or groups who want to be in the line of march must register by calling the post after 3 p.m. daily at 570-586-9821. The parade will form at the Grove Street Elementary Center starting at 10 a.m., proceed to South Street and Winola Road, ending at the post home.

Post 25 and Scranton Memorial Day ceremony
Scranton Veterans Memorial Park hosts the Memorial Day ceremony sponsored by VFW Post 25 and the city May 26 at noon. Public invited. Members of VFW Post 25 along with the Northeast Detachment of the Marine Corps League and city will participate, Mayor Paige Gebhardt Cognetti will offer remarks. Special guest will be David Ratzel, older brother of Capt. Wesley Ratzel, Air Force, who was shot down over North Vietnam in 1972. David and his family will place the memorial wreath at the monument and David will speak of his brother. The Ron Leas Big Band with singer Sharon Ambrozia will perform. Bagpiper Dick McLane and local Boy and Girl Scouts will participate. Olyphant Memorial Day events
Memorial Day services begin May 26 at 11 a.m. at the Olyphant American Legion, Raymond Henry Post 327, 101 Willow Ave. Guest speaker is Vito Ruggiero, commandant of the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center in Scranton. Immediately following will be the Olyphant Freedom Fighter Veterans Memorial Park program. This year’s honoree is CPO Loretta Perfectus Walsh, Navy, the first official enlisted woman of any service and the first woman to achieve chief petty officer. Honored guest speaker will be EOC, SCW Martin O’Horo, Navy retired and former Olyphant resident, accompanied by several Navy officers. American Legion Six Star Post 209, Lakewood, will hold Memorial Day services May 26 at: Balls Eddy Cemetery, 9 a.m.; Shehawken Cemetery, 9:30; Orson Cemetery, 9:45; Little York Cemetery, 10:10; Rock Lake Cemetery, 10:30; Lake Como Cemetery, 11; and Lakewood Memorial Park, noon, with refreshments following the ceremony.

Herbert Clark Post 180 Throop American Legion and Throop VFW Post 7251 Memorial Day services, May 26, with members meeting at the Throop Civic Center parking lot at 8 a.m. and proceed to the local cemeteries for services starting with St. Mary’s Cemetery off Sanderson Avenue at 8:15. Members will then proceed to the Veterans’ Plaque at the Throop Municipal Building for services there at 10. All members will then proceed to the VFW Post 7251 for services there at 11.

Jermyn Memorial Day services
Jermyn annual Memorial Day parade will be held May 26 at 11 a.m. Parade starts at Washington and Franklin avenues, proceeding on South Washington Avenue, ending at the Jermyn Cemetery, Cemetery Street. Participants to gather at Convenient Mart on Franklin Avenue beginning at 10:30 a.m. Immediately following the parade at the Jermyn Cemetery, the William J. Griffiths American Legion Post 465 will conduct the Memorial Military Service for all fallen veterans. Lakeland School District’s eighth grade essay winners, Bryson Bechtek and Greta Takach, will read their essay “What Freedom Means to Me.” Commander Jones will present to them a certificate of recognition and monetary gift commemorating their 2025 Memorial Day Award. Lakeland School District Band will provide military arrangements and Big Bear Production will have a presentation of music and song honoring veterans during the program. After the veteran service program, free hot dogs and beverages will be provided to all participants at the Artisan Hose Company, Maple Street, sponsored by the W.J. Griffiths American Legion Post 465. If inclement weather, all parade and ceremony participants go directly to the Artisan Hose Company and the ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.
