Over the next few weeks, The Times-Tribune is honored to present the profiles of each member of the Scholastic Superstars Class of 2025. These outstanding students were nominated by their schools and chosen by a panel of local officials.
Winni Lin, Riverside Junior-Senior High School
Q: What accomplishments are you most proud of and why?
A: My friend and I organized a volleyball fundraiser tournament that benefited a newborn in our community suffering from a medical condition. We realized the power of community in support of our cause.
Q: What were your most rewarding school or community activities?
A: I am the co-founder of my school’s first STEM club and Science Olympiad Team. I have also placed first in FBLA’s Spreadsheet Applications event. All of these feats taught me the importance of teamwork.

Q: What is something you do to relax?
A: I enjoy listening to music or watching comfort shows/movies to decompress.
Q: Plans after high school graduation?
A: I plan to attend college at NYU, majoring in pre-med sciences.
Q: Who do you most admire and why?
A: My calculus teacher, Mr. (Michael) Kolessar. He is a compelling speaker that teaches with passion, authenticity, and integrity. He is never bothered by societal norms and is always pushing his students to face new challenges.
Q: What advice do you have for younger students?
A: Anything can happen; never stop working toward a goal in mind — especially when you are doubted most.
