A Wyoming County woman accused of prostitution told police she planned to rob her customer, who turned out to be an undercover officer.
Jesse Sue Fletcher, 42, of 90 Davis Hollow Road, Meshoppen, engaged in prostitution, Scranton police charged after an encounter May 19.
The Scranton Police Street Crimes Unit launched an investigation into suspected prostitution activities in the city, according to a criminal complaint.
Fletcher contacted an undercover officer, who she believed was a potential customer. Investigators were monitoring activity on a website used for facilitating prostitution, which allows users to post advertisements that include explicit descriptions and images related to sexual services they’re willing to provide, as well as details about payment methods and locations.
Fletcher agreed to meet to exchange sex for money. Police set up surveillance.
Fletcher texted the informant at about 4:30 p.m. that she had arrived at the rear of the building.
Officers then saw Fletcher, who was with her boyfriend, walking toward the front of the building.
Police approached her, and she told them that although she had offered sex in exchange for $200, she was actually planning to rob her customer.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. on July 21 before District Judge Alyce Farrell.
