The Lackawanna Historical Society maintains an extensive collection of library resources for use by students, scholars, historians, and the community at large. The holdings include: vertical files, books and other published works, manuscripts, photographs, newspapers, maps, general scrapbooks, music scrapbooks, genealogical files, and oral histories (see menu selections at left for more information).
Among the records are valuable first-hand accounts and primary source materials for those seeking to learn about the history and heritage of our area from various standpoints. Whether you’re looking for in-depth material for a book or paper or you’re curious about a local landmark or your grandfather’s business, the LHS library is here to help.
Members may use the Society library at any time during regular business hours; non-members may use it for a fee of five dollars per day. On-site personnel are available to assist those who walk in, email, write, or phone for help with inquiries. Society researchers will respond to written requests for a base fee of $25 plus a copy fee.
