SCRANTON, PA. – Mayor Paige G. Cognetti announced today, April 2, 2025, the opening of applications for a total of $30,000 in grants available to nonprofit community centers located within the City of Scranton. Applications are due by Tuesday, April 29, 2025, and can be submitted online through OpenGov at https://bit.ly/ScrantonCommunity2025.
“Community centers help bring together friends and neighbors across Scranton,” Mayor Cognetti said. “This funding makes sure these facilities can continue to grow or make needed repairs in order to continue serving our residents.”
The grants provide financial assistance to enhance capacity, upgrade facilities, and support programming at community centers. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(23) nonprofits and demonstrate strong financial management and programmatic expertise. Funds may be awarded in full or in part, depending on availability, and must be used by December 31, 2025.
In 2024, a total of $25,000 in grant funding was awarded to the West Scranton Youth Center (1621 Washburn St.) and the Tripp Park Community Center (2000 Dorothy St.) to support their operations and facility improvements.
