Applications Open for Scranton 2025 Veterans’ Grant Through April 29

SCRANTON, PA. – Mayor Paige G. Cognetti announced that a total of $100,000 in grants are available to nonprofit organizations located within the City of Scranton that serve veterans and their families. Applications are open today, Wednesday, April 2, 2025, and are due by Friday, Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Groups can apply online through OpenGov at https://bit.ly/ScrantonVeterans2025

“These funds help our local nonprofits continue to serve the respected members of our veteran community and close potential service gaps in their care,” Mayor Cognetti said. “We are proud of their service and of our ability to provide this funding each year.” 

Grants are available for programming including supportive services, homelessness prevention, mental health services, addiction recovery, financial assistance, home rehabilitation, and more. 

Applicants must be a 501(c)(3), 501(c)(19), or 501(c)(23) that serves veterans and their families in Scranton. Groups will also need to demonstrate financial management and programmatic expertise, along with documenting all service or program expenses. 

Funding decisions will be made by a committee to include representation of veterans. Programs may be funded in part or in full based on available funds, with priority given to applicants that demonstrate how programs will prioritize and support low-income veterans. All funds must be used by December 31, 2025

In 2024, recipients of a total of $85,000 in funding supported local veterans memorial parks, mental health and holistic wellness services, and improvements to veterans living facilities and social organizations.
